tie onsies

My little sister will be having her little boy very soon now! So, of course we had to make sure that Pax would be GQ-ing it straight out of the womb! :D She picked out some fabric and we transformed his little onsies!
This second fabric will match one of his Daddy's ties, so now they can be matching studs! I thought the bow ties were pretty cute too! I feel like he'll need a little pair of suspenders and a pipe! :D

I thought they were so cute that I stole some of the fabric and made a coordinating onsie for Tucker! The boys will look so cute!

Sketchbook pages

Sorry for the delay in updates! Having a 3 1/2 month old leaves me little time to work on things, but I wouldn't have it any other way!
So, Mom and I have been working feverishly on our sketchbooks...and by Mom and I, I mean, Mom. She's almost DONE! The woman has 2 pages left in her book!!! We put the cover on her sb today, and it looks absolutely amazing!

I was able to work on and finish a few pages that I had started, which was a great accomplishment for me! I finally remembered to take some pictures of our work, so here we go! The first set are mine:

I always love working with Mom. It's just nice to be in the creative flow with someone else, and today we had an extra little helper!
The little guy was a great encourager, and keeper of the crafts :D
I'm not sure how Mom is so far in this book, she kept getting distracted by this handsome little face ;)
But really, her pages are AMAZING! Here are some of my favorites from Mom's book:

Also, I'd like to say hello to all of you who visited my site as a result of my Give Away over at So You Think You're Crafty! Please leave me a comment to let me know you were here!

Graden's Nursery

This summer I got back in touch with my friend, Jessie, who I went to jr. high and high school with. Her son, Graden, was born 3 weeks after Tucker! It has been so fun to reconnect, and to have boys that are so close in age!

Graden's nursery is absolutely adorable, and I love the orange color that they used on the walls! Jessie asked me to paint a tree like Tuckers, only we added the green detail that matches the rest of the room! It turned out so cute!!!

Pages

So, 5 weeks after having a baby, I'm back in my sketchbook!!! Nap time proves to be a great amount of time to get some work done! Mom has been coming over to work as well, and we are really enjoying the process!

The picture above is the page I finished today! I LOVE this page! The colors are so vibrant, and it's just funky! I also like my fold out that I added. At the bottom right page there is a blue piece with numbers on it. When you open the flaps, it looks like this:

And this:
Here is a page I finished last week. The doodles were fun and stress relieving! Again, remember that the theme for my book is "It'll be fun, I swear!" And I am totally having fun with it!
Here are some works in progress. This is my first page that will eventually describe why I'm doing this book. It matches T's nursery! :D
And here is another! I love the calmness of this page. It will probably stay pretty simple, I will just add the journaling later.
As mom and I are working on our books, we've both been thinking about our strengths and weaknesses. It's quite amusing having the two of us sitting next to each other while we work because we're both approaching this project from 2 different angles, which is also the point, and also what makes it so amazing!!! We joked that if we had really been thinking about this, we should have done one book together- I would make the backgrounds, and she would do the writing! Then we'd both be playing to our strengths! :D

first work day

Let the work begin! Mom and I worked on our sketchbooks today, and boy did the time fly!!!
Mom made an insert into her book with awesome pieces, and I got my cover on!

Now, what would make a productive work day more effective than a break for S'mores?! :D I know the picture isn't totally clear on the situation, so I will explain in further detail. I am ALWAYS cold. always. Pregnancy has apparently changed that for me.

You know on Father of the Bride 2, when the girls are so hot, and all of the men are wearing parkas? That is my house! Mom was FREEZING, and I felt no effects of the air conditioning!!!

Big A high fives me on this face because we have spent all of our married life arguing over the temperature of the house. The result being me wrapped in a blanket, how mom is in this picture below!
Anyways, back to work! Here are mom's tags that are inserted into Kendall's wedding invitation envelope, and then inserted into her book.
This is what I got done. Cover, check. Title piece, check. Back cover quote, check.
Isn't this fabulous?!
Here are mom's tags hanging from the envelope!!!
And my inside back cover.
At this point, we are totally consumed in thought and work by this project, and loving it! I am a little more at ease with my endeavors, taking on a "we'll just see what happens attitude," while mom is very thoughtful, intentional, and slightly more stressed-but still loving it!!!

I am so thankful to have someone around while I work. It makes the house not so quiet...all of that will change this weekend, though, with the arrival of new baby!!!!
