first work day

Let the work begin! Mom and I worked on our sketchbooks today, and boy did the time fly!!!
Mom made an insert into her book with awesome pieces, and I got my cover on!

Now, what would make a productive work day more effective than a break for S'mores?! :D I know the picture isn't totally clear on the situation, so I will explain in further detail. I am ALWAYS cold. always. Pregnancy has apparently changed that for me.

You know on Father of the Bride 2, when the girls are so hot, and all of the men are wearing parkas? That is my house! Mom was FREEZING, and I felt no effects of the air conditioning!!!

Big A high fives me on this face because we have spent all of our married life arguing over the temperature of the house. The result being me wrapped in a blanket, how mom is in this picture below!
Anyways, back to work! Here are mom's tags that are inserted into Kendall's wedding invitation envelope, and then inserted into her book.
This is what I got done. Cover, check. Title piece, check. Back cover quote, check.
Isn't this fabulous?!
Here are mom's tags hanging from the envelope!!!
And my inside back cover.
At this point, we are totally consumed in thought and work by this project, and loving it! I am a little more at ease with my endeavors, taking on a "we'll just see what happens attitude," while mom is very thoughtful, intentional, and slightly more stressed-but still loving it!!!

I am so thankful to have someone around while I work. It makes the house not so quiet...all of that will change this weekend, though, with the arrival of new baby!!!!

SB is here!!!

I have been waiting for this package, and it finally got here!!!
I knew it was going to be a smaller journal than I'm used to working, with, but I think it will be a great size for the amount of time I'll have to work on it!!!
Mom came over today, and brought her journal! She shares my excitement for her journal, and we're going to do this journey together...and by together, I mean at the same time...they'll look totally different!
As you can see, it didn't take me long to transform some part of my journal. After I ordered the red cover, I realized that I needed a bit more vibrant color...hence, the pink! I love it, and it's going to be so cool! :D
And, of course, I had a list :D Before the book got here, I had so many ideas floating around my head that I had to get them on paper! Now, work can begin! :D

Don't forget, it's not too late to sign up!

The Shop

I stopped off at Gallery 116 today to put a few more items up for sale, and thought I'd take some pictures of my space! I just recently dropped of my key/jewelry hangers, and was so excited to see them all hung up!!!! I was also pumped to find out that there is only 1 one of my mixed media canvases and a few prints left!!!! I've sold the 5-6 others that I had in there!!!!

My moms got some lanyards there as well, so they hung them on my hangers!!! Hopefully they will get sold, but for now, everything I've got is up for sale there!!! :D

Burp Rags

Aren't these so cute?! 2 ladies from church contacted me about burp clothes! The first set (above) is for a couple who does not know what they're having. I love all the colors!!!

This next set is for Logan, who will have an "Ocean World" nursery!!!

I just loved how cute they looked all packaged up!!!!

The Sketchbook Project

I just ran across this project on another blog, and I must say that it completely intrigued me! Through teaching, I have really enjoyed getting into the whole Artist Journal scene. I haven't been able to dive into it as deeply as I would like, but my sketchbook is totally my creative outlet!!!

There is something about the layering and the multitasking that fits my life so well! I can only do a little at a time, allowing me to complete the other thousand things my day entails, but leaves a special treat to go back to! :D

So, now that I have a little one, who is ALMOST here :D, I thought this project would be a fun relief from the day to day schedule.

Basically, I will be sent a journal that I can transform in any way I want!!! I chose the them "It will be fun, I swear." I have until January to complete my journal and send it back in for it to be part of a nation-wide exhibition! After the tour, all sketchbooks will enter into the permanent collection of The Brooklyn Art Library, where they will be barcoded and available for the public to view. I can go there, and check out MY OWN BOOK! :D

The Art House site gives more details if you're interested, including:
Thousands of sketchbooks will be exhibited at galleries and museums as they make their way on tour across the US.

After the tour, all sketchbooks will enter into the permanent collection of The Brooklyn Art Library, where they will be barcoded and available for the public to view.

Anyone - from anywhere in the world - can be a part of the project. To participate and have us send you a sketchbook that will go on tour, start by choosing a theme…

Again, I chose the them "It will be fun, I swear." I am really all about the fun! Plus, I figured this would be a great way to document this new stage in my life! So, what "chapters" do you suggest for my "fun" theme? I would love to have suggested topics to use to get my brain going. Any idea would be greatly appreciated!

Also, please let me know if you decide to join this project! You don't have to be an "artist!" I am just so excited to be a part of an exhibition, and to basically be published!!!
